1994, El oriental de Cuba opens its doors for the first time, with the purpose of bringing a different service in the restaurant business to the growing Latino community and the general public in Jamaica Plain. The essence of the Cuban culture comes alive in every one of our dishes, always with the taste of our towns and the warmness of our people in a familiar environment and personalized service.
We are located in 416 centre St., Jamaica Plain. with 90 seats capacity divided in two dining rooms, where vibrant colors and tropical accents complement a tropical ambiance. A permanent display of paintings by renounced cuban Artists like: ......among others bring the final touch.
Every day we serve to a very diverse ethnicity of clientele, who through our dishes, experience something that we have called “A cuban Dining Experience”, which takes them back to our roots. We were the FIRST Latino restaurant to have delivery service. The FIRST to have a variety of dishes as daily specials, plus an extensive menu full of cuban and International dishes. First, to have a professional Catering Service that has become the most prestigious and renowned in the state of Massachusetts.
We have catered from the State House to the most famous Universities and exclusive function rooms, like “The City View Room”, located at the observatory in the John Hancock building in the City of Boston, where dignitaries, personalities and famous artists have enjoyed our food.
El Oriental de Cuba has been awarded several times: 1997 Small Business of the year in Roxbury by Nuestra Comunidad CDC, 1998 Small Entrepreneur of the year award by the Latinos Professional Network, 1999 Vision Award for a small business by The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Zagat rated, a prestigious restaurant rating company, “Best Cuban 2003” and “Gourmet Greatness 2004” by The Phantom Gourmet. Also rated by citysearch.com, boston.com, hotwire.com among others. We have also received awards from the Governor's office of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Boston, and the Lions Club Hispanic Chapter among others.
